A Cinderella Moment at the Opera Ball 2018

Last thursday I had the honor of attending the Vienna Opera Ball for the second time in my life. As I already mentioned on the blog Humanic invited me to the biggest event of the year where I was in charge of their instagram account. I was not only responsible for capturing beautiful moments of the night but I was also the one who documented their amazing service for the ladies. As the official shoe partner they had the brilliant idea to offer women a pair of glittery ballerinas – and let me tell you, it was widely popular! Of course every woman knows there is nothing more flattering than a leg-lengthening heel but when the need for comfort is key and your not able to walk without pain anymore it’s time for a Cinderella moment and leave your own footwear behind.

But let’s start at the very beginning. Instead of shooting outside, like I did last year, I decided to capture my look at the Coco Chanel inspired mirrored glass stairs at the Park Hyatt Vienna, which leads from the hotel bar to the lobby, smoking salon and restaurant. Adapted to the dress code (black tie) I went for a floor-length gown in navy blue by the lovely Austrian designer Claus Tyler and paired it with classic peacock blue pumps by Peter Kaiser - find a similar option here

In order to get in the right mood i kicked off the evening with a fantastic dinner before i made my way to the Humanic Corner at the Opera Ball. The minute I arrived I was pretty surprised that even right after the opening ceremony so many women felt the urge to get their hands on some ballerinas. Even two debutantes showed up giving me  the chance to have a closer look at their incredible tiaras As usual the hours passed by pretty quickly and before I headed home I took a walk through the Opera in order to share this special experience via Instastory. It’s so incredible how much you can actually explore and i can honestly recommend checking out the building to the full whenever you may have the chance to attend the Opera Ball.

Another highlight of the night was definitely to see that this annual event was attended by some 5,000 guests from the worlds of culture, business, academia and politics. It's truly an evening of traditional entertainment that cannot be compared with anything else and that's why many of them danced the night away until the very last minute. But always be prepared and make sure to be equipped with the right tools. Especially when you opt for a special updo that requires extra  reinforcement - simply stash a few bobby pins at the bottom of your clutch. I would also suggest packing some safety pins in case of any wardrobe malfunction like popped buttons or broken zips. To extend your little survival kit bring some blotting papers (it just takes out the oil and doesn't affect your make-up) and of course some plasters because sometimes you don't know how much your shoes are going to hurt after you have worn them for a couple of hours. Furthermore i always make sure to stick to one drink for the night instead of mixing everything. Besides the alcoholic drinks i always ask for a glass of tap water to be in control and still have a good time. And last but not least - if you plan to use your smartphone to take pictures and capture memories, portable battery chargers give you ultimate freedom while you're out and about.

So with these things in mind you can definitely extend the night but of course all good things have to come to an end. A Big thank you to Humanic and the Fashionsquad for this amazing opportunity.
