I guess a lot of you
guys know that the first two months of the year here in Vienna are pretty
packed up with all kinds of balls you can imagine! One of the biggest question
is definitely ‚What to wear’. I’ve teamed up with the Mariandl Shopping center
in order to share with you my personal tips when it comes to getting ready for
these kind of events! Attending a classic
ball night is not only exciting but also a little bit nerve-wracking – which
shouldn’t be the case when you follow a steps.
THE DRESS
Depending on the event you’re attending you should definitely have to make sure to wear a dress that works for you. There are so many different options out there that it can be tricky to find the perfect gown that enhances your personal features. Personally i always love to get inspired when i’m not even sure what i’m actually looking for. In this case i can highly recommend Pinterest which allows you to create your personal board that helps you to define the search. Of course not everybody has the same bodytype – so in order to find the most flattering dress here is a quick overview (scroll down).

SLENDER
Thin frame – accentuate
your long and lean physique with a fitted dress.
BUSTY
Bust is larger, your
hips are narrow and often the waist is not well defined. Draw attention up to
your face and try to achieve an hourglass effect. Try to find dresses that add
curves to your hips which will create a more defined waist.
PETITE
If your not that tall
it’s always a good idea to wear an asymmetrical hemline that can make you
appear taller. Feminine dresses with a V-neckline or pleating are also a great
way to elongate your silhouette.
APPLE
Slim legs, weight in
the middle and a shorter undefined waist. For this bodytype i can highly
recommend empire dresses which helps you to camouflage your middle.
CURVY
A hourglass figure is
curvy. This bodytype is known for a well-defined waist. V- and open necklines
but also accentuated waistlines will look great and add an extra feminine touch.
PEAR
Hips are larger than
your bust and your waist is well defined. Try to add volume to your upper body
which balance out your hips and emphasizes your small waist.
So on to the next steps
– HAIR & MAKE UP
Equally important as
finding the perfect dress is definitely choosing the right style when it comes
to hair and make-up. Personally i love to get inspired by all those celebrity
red carpet hairstyles but let's be honest - this can be a challenge that you might lose! So if you are not super
talented or let’s say not super patient when it comes to new hairstyles and
make-up looks print out your favorites and get in touch with a trusted pro
before you end up being late.
ACCESSOIRES
To top things off it’s
always important to find the perfect accessoires that will add a little bit
more depth to your outfit. Try to find something that enhances your look –
because in the past i’ve seen so many ‚christmas tree’ inspired looks that
ruined the whole appearance. It’s actually pretty easy – if you covered up in
pailettes or shiny fabric it’s better to become a minimalist when choosing the right
jewellery.
But most importantly –
have fun!
