This
year Sky TV invited five bloggers to travel to the places where a few of the action scenes of the 24th Bond film were
shot. The world's most lovable secret agent Lothario has been to the mountains to Central Europe many times, but he has
never been to Sölden, which plays not only a major role in the movie but also
made me realize that you definitely don’t have to leave your own country when
your’re looking for something new and inspring that can truly blow your mind. But
let’s go back to the beginning where everything started. The James
Bond-Roadtrip through Austria kicked off with the premiere of Spectre in
Innsbruck and of course we, talking about Nina, Vicky, Raffael, Kathi & myself included, also got the chance to extend our 007-Night at the Casino where we were invited to a
private dinner followed by a (private) poker game that we enjoyed to the fullest
since we were constantly sipping on our "Vesper Martini" which happens to be the the favorite drink of James Bond - no complaining at
all.
Day 2
was more than special. As i already mentioned it before our roadtrip included
the lovely resort Sölden which i can highly recommend if you’re looking for an
unforgettable vacation in the mountains which includes the most beautiful
landscape you could ask for. We stayed at the lovely Bergland, which was
centrally located but also the hotel where Daniel Craig stayed while filming
Spectre.
Following
in the tracks of James Bond, we started our day at the Rettenbach Glacier and
later moved on, or to be precise, took a ride in a spacious gondola to the
iconic ICE Q, a cuboid in shape and a place that offers you a view you’ve never
seen before. It was truly incredible when we had lunch at the restaurant at the
Gaislachkogl peak which is 3048 above the sea level which probably seems to be the
coolest place i’ve ever been to.
But the
story continues. We were already filled up with so many impressiones and
emotions that we thought that it couldn’t get any better but SKY TV proved us
wrong. After we checked out we headed again to the mountains – and before i
move on i have to say that at this point i was so greatful to be part of
something that made me happy but also proud to live in such a beautiful and
stunning country!!! Anyways, our next point on the agenda was out of this world
– a 15 min helicopter ride over the mountains. Seriously – a dream came true
and who doesn’t love a bit of adrenaline especially when you’re follwing the
footsteps of Ian Flemning’s fictional character.
So on
the next day we checked out and headed to the last shooting location of the
movie. I have to say that the ride to Lienz was probably the best of the whole
road trip. I honestly don’t remember the last time i’ve laughed so much all in
one day! We had so much fun while we were driving through the alpine roads
(Trimmelsjoch) that kept me speechless for more than a second. Nature can be everything!
For our
last night we were invited to the „Grand Hotel Lienz“. After an amazing dinner
it was time to get prepared for the next day at Obertilliach in East Tyrol. The
place where the crew of the 007-Movie arrived with „’film snow’, a plane and a
wooden alpine house back in January.
We were told all those behind the scenes stories which in my opinion
seems to be more interesting than
the movie itself. Imagine a crew
of 400 people for a 2 week production that will only appear 3 min in the movie –
yes that’s probably the reason why it claims to be the most expensive movie
ever made.
Our
adventure was almost over, but we still had one thing to learn. Shooting – and
i’m not talking about taking pictures. We tried our best, shot like nobody
business but came to the conclusion that we are only pros when were holding a
camera and not a weapon.
So this
4 days full of unforgettable moments, loud laughters, breathtaking places and
people you love to spend to time with – i can honestly say that it was a big
pleasure to be part of this adventure.
